Your Id Card Has Been Stolen: GT Writing Task 1

Your ID card has been stolen. Write to the Local Police Station, giving details of

  • Who are you?
  • What happened?
  • Ask what you should do to get a new ID card.

Dear Sir/Madam,

I am writing to notify you that my identification card has been stolen. My name is Manjeet Singh, and I reside at #2458, St No 16, Rohini Nager, Delhi. I am writing to request your assistance in obtaining a new ID card.

The theft occurred on 15-2-2022 when my wallet was taken from my bag. In addition to my ID card, my credit cards and some cash were also taken. I have already reported the theft to my bank, which has cancelled my credit cards.

Having my ID card stolen is a matter of great concern to me, as it is a vital document that I need for various purposes, such as opening a bank account, obtaining a driver’s license, and so on. I want to demand your assistance in getting a new ID card as soon as possible.

Could you please let me know what steps I need to take in order to obtain a replacement ID card? Do I need to register a police report, and where and how should I do that? Are there any documents or information I need to provide to obtain a new ID card?

I would be thankful for any information you can provide in this matter, and I look forward to hearing back from you soon. I am also happy to provide any additional information or documentation that may be required.

I appreciate your consideration of this matter.

Sincerely,

IELTSFever
