Many individuals think that rather than travelling, students should focus on working in their gap year. I agree with this statement. In my opinion, gaining work experience in a gap year will guide students to choose their careers properly. In this essay, I will discuss my views on why students should work in gap year instead of travelling.
Student life is a very precious time of any individual’s life. Actions taken during this period will decide what will you do in future. Also, when you are young, you can learn and acquire skills faster. If students work during the gap year, they will come to know about the field more. They get to know about how companies work and how money can be earned. I believe if they work, they value time and money more. Moreover, working in the field which students want to pursue for the rest of their lives gives them an idea about whether they enjoy doing this work or they want to change field and try something new.
For instance, many students want to become doctors or surgeons or painters or chartered accountants because they have seen that the persons who have chosen this career are earning good or they are famous etc., but students do not actually understand the struggle behind their success. If students are allowed to work during the gap year, they will have at least some real knowledge regarding the career they want to pursue, and they will not end up choosing the wrong path for the future.
To conclude, Working during the gap year would be more beneficial for students rather than travelling during the gap year. For building the future, students should work in a gap year. They can travel afterwards, but the experience which they gain with work will stay with them for a lifetime.
