Sample Answer of Describe a Difficult Decision that You Once Made
I quite remember when I was around 16 to 17 years. It’s a memory of memories as I was really excited to channel to the next step in my career. I was hoping to choose a pathway that would change my life forever. On the 25th of March, 2020, I was informed by my sister that I had mail in the family’s box for some time now, and upon checking through the mailbox, she did see my name on the letter posted. It’s was an admission letter from Mount Allison University in Canada. I was like, oh my God, is it real. I was kind of shocked with mixed feelings. I had to make a decision to confirm my acceptance to study at the university. So I had to inform my parents about the outcome, but I was in need of a scholarship which the outcome with a decision hasn’t been made yet, but I had to accept the admission offer the time elapsed. I was really confused. So I decided not to confirm the offer but to apply for moving my offer to the next semester. I waited several days for an outcome on the application done to have my offer moved to the next semester, but no response came until recently that I was emailed informing me that due to the coronavirus, the school had to be closed down, and further explanation was done. It’s was difficult for me to decide on that decision as I had no option other than to opt for that as without the scholarship, it’s would be difficult for my family also, so I had to put my family’s needs before mine.

Question 1:- What decisions do people generally make in their daily life?
Answer:- Mostly it depends on the individual’s current situation. At times situations make people make decisions that will either positively or negatively affect their lives. It’s could in a situation of whether to accept a proposal or to pay off their rent. Currently, a friend of mine asked of the opinion as to whether if his kid brother should pursue his studies in nursing at the training college or go to the university.
Question 2:- Which is easier, making a decision by oneself or making a decision after a group discussion?
Answer:- Making a decision by oneself is easier than with a group discussion as with the former you get to decide what appeals to you know your weakness and strength, you don’t get pressured or influenced by other people’s choice so as not please anyone, but with the latter, you don’t get to voice out your opinion especially if you are with the blockheaded and those who don’t like to be corrected. They tend to always implement what they see fit for them without not considering other individuals’ concerns. Even though it’s not always the case but it’s better with oneself decision making.
Question 3:- Why are many young people unwilling to listen to their parent’s advice?
Answer:- This comes as a result of their being in their adolescent period, and this time, they undergo several emotional and psychological changes. If care is not taken, the parents of these children might tag them to be of different individuals other than their children. But with time and coaching, they come in line. This is the stage where parents must not push them aside or coerce them to their rules but rather be a friend or coach them and have an open relationship with them.
Question 4:- Why do middle-aged people tend to second guess their decision?
Answer:- That has to deal with their self-esteem. I stand to be corrected though but on second thought, irrespective of who you are, making of second decision has to deal with your self-esteem, you not believing in yourself or your decision you intend to make times comes as a result of not integrating well on the Abraham Maslow theory or hierarchy of needs. With Eric Erickson psychosocial development, there is a stage where individuals who are not able to assimilate well during their development tends to have a problem mostly with second-guessing their decision due to fear of failure.
