Communication through text messaging and another instant form of online communication is short and basic. Some people think this will be the death of grammar and spelling. Do you agree or disagree?

Due to the rapid advancement of technology, a sea-change has occurred in the field of communication. In the present scenario, individuals communicate with their family or friends with the help of the internet via social networking sites including Facebook, Instagram, and so on. A camp of society believes that if human beings will communicate through online short text messages with others, then, it will eliminate the need for memorizing grammar rules and spellings. I partly disagree with the given argument. I will discuss it in the following paragraphs of this essay.

First of all, the grammar rules and correct spellings of words are essential elements for writing a language in the right format. Students learn it during their school time from pedagogical experts. They memorize the correct spellings because short forms are not allowed in academics. But they use short messages during communicating online by typing which is not lead to degradation in learning grammar norms and spellings. So, the process of using grammar rules and the right spelling of words will not vanish. In particular, there are language tests available around the world including IELTS, ESOL, PTE, and so on. Such tests can only be passed through grammar rules as well as, correct spelling of words.  These tests are preserving the value of grammar and spelling.

On the opposite side, nowadays the inbuilt program such as dictionary or keywords are available in mobile phone and computers. So, when a person types any message on mobile or computer, then, it automatically shows correct words. Also, this application checks grammar mistakes. As a result of it, human avoid memorizing correct word spelling and grammar norms. They are becoming tech-savvy. Thus, it is becoming a cause of death of grammar rules.

 Conclusion

To conclude, the technology put the lives of people on the ease by providing inbuilt keyboards on smartphones and personal computers. It helps them to type a word shortly. As we all know excess of everything is bad. The use of grammar rules with correct spellings is declining. It will not be totally finished but its uses may become limited in the future.
