You Live With a Roommate at University but You Have Trouble Studying because of a problem related to your roommate. Write a letter to an administrator at your university and include:
- Who you are
- The problem
- What you suggest they do
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to express my concerns regarding a problem I am currently facing with my roommate at university. My name is Aarti Soman and I am a 1st Year student in the ABC department.
Unfortunately, my roommate’s behavior is making it extremely difficult for me to focus on my studies. Specifically, my roommate has a habit of playing loud music late into the night, and this is affecting my ability to concentrate on my assignments and study for exams. Despite my requests to lower the volume, my roommate has not shown any regard for my situation.
As a solution, I would like to request that the university take some action to address this issue. I believe that the university should consider a policy to ensure that all students abide by quiet hours, particularly during times when students need to study, such as before exams. I suggest that the university set specific times for quiet hours and enforce penalties on students who violate these rules. This would help ensure that all students can study in an environment that is conducive to learning.
Additionally, I request that the university consider allowing students to switch roommates if they are experiencing difficulties with their current roommate. This could be done through a formal process of assessment to ensure that students are not simply changing roommates to avoid studying with a particular person.
I would appreciate it if you could take my concerns into consideration and provide a response as soon as possible. Thank you for your time and attention.
Sincerely,
Basanti Chand
