Universities Should Accept Equal Numbers of Male and Female Students in Every Subject

Universities should accept equal numbers of male and female students in every subject. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

Higher institutions should admit the same numbers of men and women in all subjects. They should be given the opportunity to choose their careers irrespective of gender and what society deems appropriate for a particular sex. I absolutely agree with this, and my reasons will be discussed in the course of this essay.

In today’s society, the growing movement for gender equality can be felt in all spheres of life and especially in education. Both boys and girls are now eager to explore every career, unlike in the past when they were some limitations. For instance, subjects like mechanical and electrical engineering, which have always been peculiar to the male gender, are no longer the same as women are now interested in such fields too and are making notable impacts as well.

In addition, a restriction on the number of students in some subjects is quite unreasonable. A place of learning should be optional to anyone who is willing and can also afford it. It should not be based on a natural factor they have no control over, which is their gender. Therefore, universities should not use gender as a yardstick for career choice and admission of students.

To conclude, freedom of education and excellence should be the driving force for universities, not their gender. Our society is evolving, and as a result, men and women should be given equal opportunities to study whatever they have an interest in; as long as they are not being forced, I believe the healthy competition they will encounter will help them thrive generally.
