Traditional Ideas From Elderly People About the Way to Live

Traditional ideas from older people about how to live and behave are not helpful to young people and their future. To what extent do you agree or disagree.

Ageing generations are known to be full of knowledge and wisdom, but their advice to youngsters are thought to be useless. I differ with this belief, as it will be discussed below.

Firstly, the wealth of experience that the elderly have accumulated cannot be thrown away over the years. This is because they have passed through the thick and thin and know the solutions to one problem or the other. Advice from the old ones can be likened to a leave planted by the riverside, which will bring forth its fruit in due season. If the younger ones should listen to the words of the elders, it will surely help them in their present life and future. For instance, in the university setting, it has been discovered that old lecturers have more impact on students’ lives than newly employed and young lecturers.

Secondly, these older individuals passed through the stage that the younger ones are now. By this, I mean that they know where the shoe pinches the youth because they were once in that stage. As a result of this, they can easily proffer solution to the problems of the youngsters now and in the time to come. Although the proponent of this notion may have reasons such as being old fashioned, not technologically inclined and illiteracy as their points of argument, these are not true because the elders are knowledgeable and their brains are like computers.

In conclusion, the counsels of the elders are worth much more than what the youths will receive from their peers, and it will be useful now and in the years to come.
