Many Supermarkets Sell More and More Imported Food Products than Ones Produced in Their Home Country

Many supermarkets sell more and more imported food products than ones produced in their home country. What are the advantages and disadvantages of this trend?

In today’s lifestyle, supermarkets sell International products extensively in the markets compared to domestic-made. This trend has benefits as well as drawbacks for society and the supermarket itself.

One of the benefits for the supermarket is they could get a huge profit when they import new products. As we know, humans are always curious about something new and uncommon in their country, so when the supermarket provides something new in the storefront to sell, it can encourage more customers to try and buy it. Moreover, the quality of products from abroad is mostly trade in high-quality compared to the local ones. Apart from this, society’s satisfaction would be increased.

Despite the advantages above, people who have a lower middle income would be in trouble related to their low purchasing power. If the supermarkets nearby sell imported food more than local, it means the product price would be high because of the travel costs and taxes that supermarkets have to bear. In addition, the journey of shipping goods from other countries is very long, so in some cases, the foods that have stayed in repositories for a long time won’t be suitable to consume anymore. The food must be sold in a short time; otherwise, it will increase the cost of losses that must be paid by the supermarket.

To conclude, although it would be harmfully related to economic problems, it is a good idea to allow the supermarket to sell foreign products due to the quality and other benefits.
