In Many Countries, The Number of Animals and Plants Is Declining

In many countries, the number of animals and plants is declining. Why do you think this is happening? How can this issue be solved?

In the past couple of years, we have noticed a drastic change in Fiona and flora. The number of animals and plants in endangered species is increased every year. A lot of animals like African rhino, lions and elephants are also included in this category. Apart from animals, a wide variety of plants are on the verge of becoming extinct. This essay will discuss the reason behind the fall in the numbers of such animals and plants; we will also discuss the solutions to resolve this issue.

As per the scientist, The main reason behind this issue is deforestation. All developing countries failed to prioritise their natural habitats; just to increase the pace of development, such governments took some inhumane decisions. Countries like India, Africa, and Srilanka have cut down factors of forests to lay the foundation of new transport systems. Apart from deforestation, Hunting and poaching are also the main threats for animals. Horns of rhino and ivory of elephants are known to hold high value in the black market. As it is not easy to extract these parts without harming the animal, the hunters kill them. Also, it is not wrong to say that the general masses are not even aware of such a serious issue. In a recent survey, we learned that only 2-5% of the population is aware of endangered plants, and only a few of them can actually identify such species.

Such a small percentage of people who are aware of this issue is concerning. But what can an individual do even if s/he is aware of it? One logical answer is to spread awareness, make people understand the importance of endangered species and share the idea of balance of nature and the food chain. Any sort of imbalance is a direct threat to humankind. We can see the impact of such awareness by the incident in Mumbai, India, where people had formed a human chain to prevent the mass cutting of trees around the Aarey forest. The government can also improve the condition by providing a suitable environment for such species and by reforestation. The government from some countries are now actively working on it. In Africa, Rhino’s are on the verge of becoming extinct and to prevent them from being prey. The African government has provided them with the security and healthy natural habitat to increase their numbers. Government should also reform the laws around hunting and poaching, which will eliminate the biggest danger of such species, which is humans.
